this was a video i came across while working on an assignment for my calculus class. this video just seemed to encompass what this whole first week was about for me, that how you choose to think will determine everything for you. its not the your inherent skill that will determine your success but your attitude about your situation. you can choose to always get angry or not try your best because you believe that something is inherent to you or you can choose to see the brighter side of things and always try your best. its these decisions that ultimately determine success and its in our power to just make the right chose. Personally i can learn from this because I've felt that any non-major related class isn't worth my time and as such i haven't been really putting in my full effort into these classes. eventually, should i continue to think this way, my grades will reflect my lack of effort or i can change my mindset and succeed in these classes
A challenge I've had to overcome this week has been my mindset. I've been to quick to get annoyed at the pacing of my classes, and its been making me have an agitated bored demeanor to some of these courses. i need to realize that not everyone has the same background in the material that i do, so while some things might be ungodly boring and simple to me, to others to may be the first time they've seen it and thus struggle with it.

Hi Dylan!
ReplyDeleteThe topic of your blog is something I think that many college students can relate to. I often question why I have to take an art class when I am an environmental science major. You are exactly right when you discuss the lack of effort that will come from that mindset. It is important to view every class as a new and unique learning opportunity. The substance of your blog is good. Maybe next time you could reread it a few times to catch small mistakes such as punctuation or capitalization errors!

I completely agree with Emily, your blog is very relatable. In fact that's how I felt! I think this will help others overcome this exact feeling because trust me you are not the only one. I'm happy to read that you've successfully overcome this problem and just keep in mind that things can only get better!
